This site has no user accounts, no comments form and no advertising. It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, described below. I do not set cookies, and apart from that statistics script the site does not load content from other companies’ servers.
What data is processedLink to section: What data is processed
Visiting the site. The site is hosted on Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps. Like any web server, the hosting service receives your IP address, the time of your visit, the page you requested and your browser’s user-agent, in order to deliver the site and keep it secure. I do not use this data to identify or track visitors. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Visit statistics. To see how many people read the site and which pages interest them, I use Cloudflare Web Analytics. When a page opens, a small script from Cloudflare reports the visit: the address of the page, technical details such as your browser and its version, and timings of how quickly the page loaded. As with any request, Cloudflare also receives your IP address, your browser’s user-agent and the page you came from; its dashboard shows figures such as the country, device type and browser of visitors and where they came from. The script does not set cookies or use your browser’s storage. Cloudflare states that the service does not collect or use visitors’ personal data and does not track individual visitors across its customers’ websites, and that it keeps the full figures for 7 days, after which only an aggregated sample remains. I only see aggregate figures, not who the visitors are. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used and keeping it fast (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you prefer not to take part, blocking the script (for example with a content blocker) does not change how the site works.
Theme preference. If you press the light/dark button, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site can remember it. It stays on your device and is not sent anywhere. No cookies are involved.
Search. Search runs entirely in your browser. What you type is not sent to any server.
Email. If you write to me, I process your email address and your message in order to reply. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). I keep it for as long as needed to handle your request, and then delete it.
Comments from the old site. Earlier versions of this site accepted comments. Those comments (name, optional website, text and date) are still shown, read-only, and comments are now closed. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in keeping the discussion that accompanies the articles. You can ask me to remove or anonymise yours at any time.
Who receives your dataLink to section: Who receives your data
Microsoft, as my hosting provider, processes the hosting data described above on my behalf, and Cloudflare, Inc., as the provider of the statistics service, processes the visit statistics described above on my behalf. They may be processed outside the European Economic Area; Microsoft and Cloudflare provide contractual safeguards for such transfers. I do not sell your data or share it with anyone else.
This site links to other websites, such as LinkedIn and Microsoft Learn. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you follow a link.
Your rightsLink to section: Your rights
You can ask me for access to your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict its processing, or to receive it in a portable format, and you can object to processing that is based on my legitimate interest. Write to me at the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or with the supervisory authority in your own country.
